Liverpool identify Salah replacement
Mohamed Salah is on the brink of leaving Liverpool as the season draws close to an end. The forward has been the best player in the team this season, and arguably the best player in Europe. This season he has produced a spectacular campaign; in the Premier League alone, he has over 40 goal involvements. Salah has been very much carrying a Liverpool attack this campaign. On the subject of his future, his national team head coach has hinted to his decision:
“I will be the first to support and stand by Salah in any decision he makes [on his future],” Hassan said. “I know it’s not an easy situation, but he is a great player who will handle it well. I wish him success wherever he goes – he is Egypt’s finest ambassador.”
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are eyeing Salah’s replacement. Real Sociedad forward Takefusa Kubo has been linked with a move to Anfield. The report claims that Kubo has been in contact with the reds since January 2024. If Real Sociedad fail to qualify for European competition at the end of the season, the Japanese international could be sold.
Takefusa Kubo would be a great addition
For the reported fee, Kubo would greatly help this Liverpool side. The creative winger would bring dribbling and chance creation. He would not be at the level of Mohamed Salah this season, but he would ease the creative burden on the front line. Most importantly, Kubo is a player that is willing to carry the ball and force the issue; something Liverpool’s attackers have failed to do when Mohamed Salah has been locked out of a game.
At 23 years old, on a very decent transfer fee and loads of experience, this is the kind of deal Liverpool used to do under Michael Edwards and Jurgen Klopp.
