The situation at Liverpool is changing as the season draws to an end.
The fans have had a rollercoaster of a season. Liverpool started brightly under new manager Arne Slot. The team topped the Premier League and Champions League group phase in Christmas and it felt like the treble was on. However, in the space of a week, the dreams of silverware have been shattered.
Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain and lost the League Cup final to Newcastle in the same week. Fans aired the frustration with not being able to celebrate their first trophy of the season. However, the blame cannot be put on the coach or players. And now that Liverpool have found their problems and decided to splash the cash this summer, some changes will happen.
The reds can still end the season with a Premier League win if they can hold on for their remaining nine games.

Paul Merson slams Liverpool ownership
Liverpool fans continue to grow frustrated over the future of the club. The reds’ best players are all set to leave this summer. The core of the team could be scattered by the start of next season. Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are all out of contract in the summer and could leave on free transfers.
The fans at Anfield are frustrated at this situation and have voiced their concern all season. Paul Merson gave his strong opinion on what is happening at Liverpool and the state of their ownership:
“I’ve been saying it for the last eight or nine months,”
“I don’t see any of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk signing at Liverpool.
“Because I just don’t know why you wouldn’t have signed already. Why would you keep on losing £80,000 a week, every week for the last 18 months?
“I’d be quite shocked if all three stayed from here. Unless Liverpool are prepared to give them £30m, £40m in their bank account.
“When you get down to that much talent and they’re that good, you should never have less than two years, or two and a half years left on your contract before they’re sitting down and saying: ‘we want to go again’.
“And the only time their contracts should be running out is when they’re 33, 34, when no one wants them.
“In football terms, it’s criminal. It’s criminal that you can let three of the top players in the world of football have their contracts run down, and they could leave for absolutely nothing, go anywhere they want.”
