Arne Slot has asked Liverpool for new signings ahead of next season.
Adding new faces to the attack is a priority for the Liverpool boss. Behind the scenes, Slot is reportedly unhappy with his attacking options outside Mohamed Salah. The rest of the players have shown a lot of inconsistency in front of goal. Liverpool’s second highest scorer in the league is Luis Diaz with nine goals.
In the reds’ last two games, when Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle were able to shackle Mohamed Salah, the rest of the attack failed to make an impact. It took Federico Chiesa coming off the bench to score at Wembley. Liverpool managed to score just two goals in three games; including two knockout ties in the Champions League, and the League Cup final.

Chelsea could fund Liverpool move for major target

Liverpool will be in the market for a new striker this summer according to multiple sources. Many names have been linked with a move to Anfield including Liam Delap, Victor Osimhen and Alexander Isak. Last month, Liverpool met with Isak’s representatives to discuss a potential move to Merseyside. Nothing concrete has been agreed but it looks like the 25-year old is keen on a move. Isak reportedly wants Champions League football next season. Newcastle want in excess of 150million for the Swedish international.
This is where Chelsea come in. According to Fichajes, the Blues are huge admirers of Caomhin Kelleher and will make a move for him this summer. However, Liverpool want a significant offer before they give the green light for a move. The reds will be looking for around £40m for Kelleher, a fee which Chelsea are considering.
If the move does go through in the summer, this gives Liverpool over 25% of the funds needed to sign Alexander Isak. And with a reported £200million available for transfers this summer, money would not be an issue when it comes to signing Isak. Newcastle Chief Executive Darren Eales is still adamant that the Magpies will keep their best players this summer:
“We’re in a position now, where because we were able to move a couple of players in January that weren’t really impacting on minutes on the pitch, we’ve got that wish and desire to keep our key players.”
The reds return to Premier League action against Everton midweek.
