Liverpool were very close to winning a treble this season.
In Arne Slot’s first ever campaign in charge, Liverpool showed they can still be competitive and challenge for trophies. Before the season began, no one gave the reds a chance of competing for silverware under Arne Slot. However, the former Feyenoord coach has done a great job with a squad this season.
The Liverpool squad eventually let Slot down. In crucial games near the end of the season, injuries and absences have played a big part in recent failures. Liverpool lost the League Cup final to Newcastle, and were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.
This summer, the reds plan to revamp the team to remain competitive heading into next season:
“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well,”
“There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad. But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.
“That would mean, in my opinion, that we will, for the upcoming years if the players keep working this hard, that we will be able to challenge for every trophy we are playing for.”

Liverpool willing to pay big money for transfer target

Arne Slot has not been a big fan of Darwin Nunez since he took charge of the club. The Liverpool boss moved the Uruguayan to the bench in favour of playing Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota up top. It has been heavily rumoured that the reds will go for a marquee striker this summer.
Fichajes report that Liverpool will continue to pursue Julian Alvarez. The Atletico Madrid star has had an impressive campaign in Spain since leaving Manchester City last summer. Alvarez has 23 goals and five assists in all competitions this season. With Liverpool desperate for a huge addition to their attack this summer, the reds are ready to make a move. The 2022 World Cup winner could be on the move just a year after leaving England.
According to the report, Liverpool are ready to pay £142million to bring Julian Alvarez to Anfield. This signing would help relieve the pressure of Mohamed Salah if the Egyptain stays beyond this summer. Fans around the club will be worried after the Egypt national team coach hinted at Salah’s departure ahead of the upcoming window.
