“Trent is gone” – Liverpool fans handed bleak forecast over star’s future

Liverpool have been growing increasingly wary of what Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to do amidst Real Madrid’s interest in taking him to the Spanish capital on a free transfer next summer.

Alexander-Arnold is a Liverpool-born red and is one of the greatest success stories of their academy with the player winning all the major trophies with the club.

At 26, he is at the peak of his powers but Liverpool are now facing the real threat of losing their star man on a free transfer at the end of the season.

He is out of contract at the end of the campaign and there is still no agreement over a new deal between the Reds and the player’s representatives.

There are claims that the defender wants to stay but Real Madrid appear to be confident that he won’t be signing a new contract with the Merseyside giants.

Real Madrid are planning to make a legal approach to him in January if he doesn’t sign a new contract with the Merseyside giants.

Liverpool are still hopeful of convincing him to sign a new deal but the noise around the player has not been positive.

Gone from Liverpool – Former Premier League manager

No decision has been made yet and negotiations are still ongoing between the club and the right-back’s representatives.

However, the clock is ticking and many feel the contract would have been sorted out if he was indeed staying at Anfield.

Tim Sherwood, the former Tottenham manager, claimed that he is more or less certain that the defender will be moving on from Liverpool in the summer.

“I think Trent is gone”, Sherwood said on Sky Sports.

A test for FSG

Liverpool are yet to sort out new deals for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk but both players are on the wrong side of 30 and the club could justify bringing in younger replacements for them.

However, Alexander-Arnold’s best years are ahead of him and given the fact he is a local boy, holding on to him is far more important for the Reds given the optics involved.

The defender leaving on a free transfer for Real Madrid would be a major blow to the credibility of the Liverpool ownership.

A section of the Liverpool fans have never taken to FSG and that relationship could grow more sour if one of their own leaves for nothing.
