Liverpool are set to face Chelsea in a big Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday but they have another massive game lined up next week.
After seven league games, Liverpool lead the Premier League standings but many believe their real test is set to start from this weekend onwards.
Observers believe the fixture list has been kind to Liverpool and the real test of their title credentials will come in the next month or so with big games lined up.
Following the Chelsea clash on Sunday, Liverpool will travel to north London to take on an Arsenal side who have been Manchester City’s closest competitors in the last two seasons.
Arsenal are sitting third in the table but they are only a point behind Liverpool and are seen as the main challengers to Manchester City’s crown.
Gunners captain Martin Odegaard has been missing in action since the September international break with an ankle injury and he won’t be fit to face Bournemouth this weekend.
However, there is a real chance that the attacking midfielder could be in the Arsenal squad when Liverpool travel to the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta indicates the Arsenal captain could be ready to face Liverpool
The Arsenal manager conceded that Odegaard is still not fit to play but admitted that next week is going to be crucial in his rehabilitation.
Arteta revealed that the Norwegian will be put through a few fitness tests and will need to hit some standards.
But the Spaniard did indicate that if everything goes according to plan, Odegaard could be fit to be in the Arsenal squad against Liverpool.
“He’s not going to be fit for this game. Next week will be a different story”, Arteta said in a press conference.
“He needs to clear some markers doing things with the ball in that latter stage of rehab.
“Next week will be crucial.”
