What Liverpool staff have said about potential £80m partner for Jarrel Quansah

Liverpool staff reportedly see Everton defender as the best defender in England to partner Jarell Quansah in the future amid reports the Reds are interested in signing him.

While Arne Slot may have taken Quansah off at half-time during the Reds’ first win of the Premier League season away at Ipswich Town, the 21-year-old is still one of the most exciting young defenders in the country.

Last season, the world got a really good look at what he is capable of and even though Jurgen Klopp has left the club, there is no doubt he will also get a chance to shine under Slot.

And it seems that Everton’s young centre-back Branthwaite is a player they rate very highly indeed.

What Liverpool staff have been saying about Jarrad Branthwaite amid £80m transfer rumours

TEAMtalk report that any move for Branthwaite will cost a minimum of £80 million and Liverpool have been said to value the defender very highly themselves.

According to Theo Squires, speaking on the Blood Red podcast, staff at Liverpool have been heard talking about Branthwaite and the potential he has for the future.

“I was down at the academy on Thursday, doing some bits and bobs with people working there, and they were saying that they could easily envisage England’s centre-back pairing being Branthwaite and Quansah in the coming years because they complement each other so well,” Squires said.

Would Liverpool really spend £80m on Branthwaite?

It might just be peak silly season but Liverpool spending £80m to sign an Everton defender is up there with Everton winning the Premier League in terms of likelihood.

He’d be a fantastic player and a more than capable successor to Virgil van Dijk but it just seems too far fetched especially given the transfer window shuts in 10 days’ time.
