Manchester United have received a significant boost in their summer transfer planning after Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis publicly expressed his openness to joining the club.
The 24-year-old Greek international spoke candidly this week about his future, confirming that a move to Old Trafford would be difficult to turn down given the club’s stature.
Tzolis delivered the clearest possible signal of his admiration for United in a recent interview, stating: “United could convince me. Such a massive club with so much history. It would be hard to say no to that.”
The forward has enjoyed an exceptional season in Belgium, establishing himself as one of the most productive attacking players across European football this campaign.
Tzolis has scored 17 goals in the Belgian Pro League alone, with his overall tally across all competitions reaching 22 goals and an outstanding 29 assists.
That level of output has attracted attention from numerous clubs across Europe’s top leagues, though Tzolis has set firm conditions on where he will consider moving next.
The winger made clear that only clubs competing in the Champions League from England, Germany, Spain, or Italy will meet his requirements for a transfer this summer.
Tzolis stated directly: “It would have to be a Champions League team from England, Germany, Spain, or Italy. Only PSG is a better option than Club.”
That criteria effectively removes several Premier League clubs from contention, including Crystal Palace, whom Tzolis dismissed without hesitation when their name was raised.
His response to Palace’s reported interest was unambiguous: “The Crystal Palace train has already left the station for me.”
Newcastle United’s hopes also appear complicated by Tzolis’s Champions League demand, depending on their qualification status heading into the summer window.
Aston Villa, however, remain firmly in contention should they satisfy the European football requirement that Tzolis has publicly set as his baseline condition.
Despite the widespread interest in his services, Tzolis stressed that he feels settled at Brugge and sees no urgent reason to force a departure from Belgium.
He confirmed that he currently has “everything I need to be happy here,” suggesting he will only leave if the right project presents itself on his terms.
United’s recruitment team will take encouragement from the fact that Tzolis has voluntarily singled out Old Trafford as a destination capable of persuading him to make the move.
Should United or Aston Villa proceed with a formal approach, both clubs appear to have a clear path forward based on Tzolis’s own publicly stated position on his future.
