Liverpool are growing wary of losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to the riches of European champions Real Madrid on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The right-back has yet to agree to sign a new contract despite Liverpool being in talks with his representatives for months over agreeing on fresh terms.
Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident of securing a deal to sign him on a free transfer and are convinced that the defender won’t sign a new contract with the Merseyside giants.
Liverpool are yet to give up on the prospect of signing him and are said to be ready to offer him a new deal that would make him the highest-paid player in their squad and probably, in the Premier League.
The club also have one eye on securing a replacement for Alexander-Arnold but experienced football observer Mick Brown believes the club already have a solution in their team.
Youngster backed to step up and replace Trent Alexander-Arnold
Brown is an experienced football operator and his years of scouting players have ensured that he has an eye for talent.
The experienced scout is a fan of 21-year-old Liverpool defender Conor Bradley and has been watching him since his days at Bolton.
He believes that the youngster has shown in a Liverpool shirt that he can handle himself defensively in the Premier League and conceded that he is surprised at the way he has adapted to playing for the Reds.
Brown is certain that Liverpool will look to secure a replacement for Alexander-Arnold but believes Bradley has shown that he has the talent to be the England star’s successor at Anfield.
“I saw a lot of Bradley when he was at Bolton”, he told Football Insider.
“They played him very high up the pitch, he was a wing-back but almost playing as a winger.
“I kept thinking I want to see him tested in defence, I want to know how good he really is.
“Since he’s gone back to Liverpool, he’s certainly shown that.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
“It surprised me, if I’m honest, how well he adapted to the step up.
“He’s done so well that I’ve heard they view him as a ready-made replacement for Alexander-Arnold.
“I don’t think they’d lose too much if he was the one to step in if Trent does move to Real Madrid, he’s perfectly capable of replacing him.
“He’ll have to adapt again and get used to Slot’s system, but he’s shown he’s capable of playing in different roles and I’d back him to make that position his own.”
