Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly received a boost in their respective pursuits of Borussia Dortmund attacker Donyell Malen.

In January, trusted Bundesliga reporter Christian Falk revealed to Caught Offside that BVB were prepared to sell the forward "immediately" after Jadon Sancho returned to the Westfalenstadion on loan.

He did not leave but he may do so in the summer transfer window and, based on a new report, Liverpool and Arsenal are the Premier League favourites to snatch him up.

Manchester United's decision regarding Donyell Malen could benefit both Arsenal and Liverpool in their pursuit of the Dortmund winger this upcoming transfer window.

Malen, who was previously linked with a move to Old Trafford in January, has seen his future under scrutiny after losing favour at Dortmund. With Jadon Sancho's loan move to the German club from United, the Red Devils had a potential bargaining chip in negotiations.

However, Sky Germany, via the Metro, reports that Manchester United have cooled their interest in Malen, despite the winger's impressive tally of 13 goals and five assists this season.

This development comes as good news for Arsenal and Liverpool, both of whom have expressed interest in the Dutchman, who reportedly earns around £101,000 per week.

Malen has reportedly expressed his desire to leave Dortmund, prompting the club to consider his sale. Valued at around £42 million, Dortmund aim to capitalise on his departure to fund a bid for Sancho, whom they sold to Manchester United for £73 million in 2021.

With United prepared to entertain offers in the region of £40 million for Sancho, the transfer dynamics could see a reshuffle in the summer market, potentially facilitating Malen's move to either Arsenal or Liverpool.
