Liverpool fend off Chelsea to sign English winger for £43m

Liverpool are looking to add fresh young forwards to their squad in the summer to back Arne Slot’s vision. However, their interest in one of the top young wingers is under jeopardy as Chelsea are emerging as real contenders to sign him in the next window.

The Liverpool manager wants to end the team’s dependence on Mo Salah for goals and creativity, and wants a younger forward line around the Egyptian superstar.

The Blues have emerged as top contenders to sign Gittens, and are working behind the scenes to set up a deal to get him from Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea have opened talks over a deal to try and sign the winger ahead of Liverpool ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The German giants are expected to sell the English winger if a club are prepared to offer somewhere around the £43m mark in the summer transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool are prepared to get into a bidding war for Gittens in the coming months.
