It is hard to believe how far Liverpool have come since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp in 2015. The German told the world that he wanted to turn the Liverpool fans “From doubters into believers”. These words have stuck with the Liverpool fans ever since.
Since his appointment, his side have reached two Champions League finals winning one.
The 2019/20 season has seen his side become one of the most dominant sides in English football history.
Klopp’s first game in charge was 0-0 draw away at Tottenham. His starting XI from that game just shows how far his side has come. Not all those of players are still at the club but where did they end up after the reds?
GK: Simon Mignolet
The Belgian international was the number one choice under Jurgen Klopp when the first arrived. However, Mignolet was replaced twice by Loris Karius in 2016 and Alisson Becker in 2018.

Mignolet would move to Club Brugge in 2019 where has become their number one.
RB: Nathaniel Clyne
Clyne was brought in by Brendan Rodgers in the summer of 2015 and quickly cemented his place in the team under Klopp. Clyne would also be regular in the England set-up due to his performances for the reds
A mixture of injuries and the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold have brought into question his future at the club.
A loan move the Bournemouth in 2019 and another big injury makes a summer exit more than likely.
CB: Martin Skrtel
Skrtel was a fan favourite at the club after arriving in 2008. His time with Klopp would however only last until the end of the 2015/16 season.

He moved to Fenerbache in Turkey before only lasting three weeks at Atalanta in Italy where he claimed he failed to fit in.
He has now moved back to Istanbul playing for Istanbul Basaksehir.
CB Mamadou Sakho
Everything seemed to suggest that Sakho would be a centre back in Klopp’s team for years to come when Klopp first arrived. He played a part in Liverpool reaching the Europa League final in 2016 scoring against Dortmund in the 4-3 comeback at Anfield.
He would, however, be loaned out and ultimately sold to Crystal Palace due to issues with discipline and conduct.
LB: Alberto Moreno
Moreno is perhaps one of the least popular players amongst fans during the Klopp era. Fans were excited at first with how the Spaniard would fly forward providing extra attacking options.

Sadly, his inability to defend just led to error after error and he quickly lost his place in the team to James Milner.
Moreno would move to Villarreal in 2019 but did manage to leave Anfield with a Champions League medal.
CM: Lucas Leiva
Lucas Leiva was the definition of a player winning over the fans during his time at Anfield. Liverpool fans did not take to the Brazilian when he first arrived in 2007 as he managed to play at the club for 10 years.

He quickly became a cult hero on the Kop before moving to Lazio in 2017.
CM: James Milner
Quite possibly the best free transfer in Premier League history. Milner has been a player for the big occasions and has become someone who Klopp depends on.

In the 2016/17 season, Milner showed his versatility by playing most of the season at left-back.
The experience he has brought to this side in 2019/20 has proved invaluable as he looks to become a European and domestic champion.
CM: Emre Can
Brought in by Brendan Rodgers in 2014, Emre Can quickly became an important player for Klopp. Can’s final appearance for the reds would be in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid.
He would move to Juventus that summer on a free transfer leaving a bitter taste in some Liverpool’s fan’s mouths.
RW: Adam Lallana
Adam Lallana’s career at Liverpool has a feeling of ‘what if’. He was a crucial player early on in Klopp’s tenure. But a cycle of ongoing injures has forced him further down the pecking order for a starting spot.

He has proved this season to be an important squad player coming off the bench to score the equaliser away at Old Trafford.
LW: Philippe Coutinho
Philippe Coutinho was part of Liverpool front four that just could not stop scoring goals. He was so important to Klopp scoring seven goals in 14 games in the league before his exit.
A January move to Barcelona has seen the Brazilian struggle to hold down a place in the team.
He has since spent the 2019/20 on loan at Bayern Munich who have decided against triggering the buy clause in his contract.
ST: Divock Origi
Origi’s time at Anfield has not always been rosy. A good start in Klopp’s first season was followed by a horrendous season-ending injury against Everton.

He then followed that up with a less than impressive loan move to Vfl Wolfburg. However, Origi has now managed to become a vital squad player for the reds.
During the 2018/19 season, Origi became the man for the big goals. Scoring late against Everton and Newcastle and then in the most unlikely of comebacks against Barcelona.
