Real Madrid shocked the world by eliminating Manchester City from the semi-final of the Champions League in dramatic fashion.
Los Blancos struck twice in two minutes, once in the 90th minute and 91st minute, to sink the Blues.
Both goals came from super-sub Rodrygo – a masterstroke from Carlo Ancelotti.
On Tuesday evening, Liverpool beat Villarreal in emotional fashion themselves, scoring three times in the second half to see off Unai Emery’s side.
Madrid and Liverpool are set to face each other on the 28th of May in Paris where the city is set to be descended upon by swarms of fans from both sides.
Speaking live on BT Sport, Joleon Lescott revealed that he believes Liverpool win the final because Real Madrid won’t have their Santiago Bernabeu stronghold to rely on in difficult moments.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side has been a fantastic watch in Europe this season and undoubtedly deserve their place in the final having beaten PSG, Chelsea and Man City in thrilling fashion.
All the decisive games in their last three two-legged ties took place at the Bernabeu:
- 3-1 win over PSG on 9 March to win 3-2 on aggregate
- 3-2 win over Chelsea on 12 Apr to win 5-4 on aggregate
- 3-1 win over Man City on 05 May to win 6-5 on aggregate
Based on these results and the fact that the final in Paris will obviously be played at a neutral venue, Lescott expects Liverpool to take the advantage.
When asked who he thinks will win at the end of the month, the former Manchester City defender replied: “Still Liverpool. Why? Because all of Real Madrid’s comebacks has happened here at the Bernabéu.”
