The Colombian star will reportedly cost the Reds upwards of €60 million which includes add ons in the deal.
It was initially reported that Tottenham was his likely destination but Diaz opted for a move to Liverpool instead.
Just how good is Diaz?
To put it bluntly, Luis Diaz has all the attributes to be a star at Anfield. His ability to dribble without losing pace is nothing short of phenomenal.
He’s strong, quick off the ball and to top it all off, he has a keen eye for goal.

He has started all eighteen games for Porto so far in the Primeira Liga so far this season, averaging 84 minutes per match.
This show of fitness has been rewarded too, with Diaz netting fourteen goals and assisting a further four.
Liverpool, despite being one of Europe’s top scorers, often look lost when Mohamed Salah is either not playing or not at his scintillating best.
Diogo Jota has stepped up in recent weeks with important goals but the Reds still need to find goals from other areas.
Luis Diaz has everything in his locker to be that man.
Breaking down the numbers
Looking further than just his goal tally (as impressive as it may be), it becomes quite clear just how clinical Diaz is in front of goal.
He has scored 0.8 goals a game so far in the league this season. This is the same as Mo Salah whose form has made him the best in the world. Diaz is also only taking 3.5 shots per game, which is less than Salah’s 4.
As previously mentioned, his dribbling is outstanding too.
He is averaging 2.6 successful dribbles per game, whereas Salah is only managing 1.9 in comparison.
With Salah on the right and Diaz on the left, Liverpool could truly be an unstoppable force going forward as the season reaches its climax.
These are the numbers of a truly world-class player and one who Liverpool can hang their hat on for years to come.
Considering the fact that Liverpool have swooped in under Tottenham’s nose and with the speed in which this news has broken in the last few hours, it’s safe to say that this is yet another Michael Edwards masterclass.
