‘You could get more out of him’: Ferdinand says Klopp can get more out of £7.25m star with a G/A every 73 mins

Takumi Minamino

Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Liverpool have got two signings wrong while speaking on his YouTube channel but it might be a bit unfair.

The former Manchester United midfielder suggests Jurgen Klopp’s only two transfer flops have both come from the RB network in Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino.

While the jury is still out on Keita, there is no reason to suggest Minamino hasn’t done everything you would expect of a £7.25m attacking signing signed as backup to the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Takumi Minamino

Diogo Jota arrived after the Japan international but this season, Minamino has shown he is Liverpool’s secret weapon in the domestic cups with 7 goals and 1 assist in 8 games in the Carabao and FA Cup.

You really can’t ask for much more than that when you consider he’s got a goal or assist every 73 minutes in the domestic cups this season.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand said that he thinks Minamino and Keita are the only two players Liverpool have failed to turn into successful transfers in Klopp’s time at the club.

He said: “The recruitment, the players come in and they hit the ground running, they don’t get many wrong you know.

“Minamino might be one, but he scored the other day, Minamino is probably one where you say you could get more out of him.

“Keita maybe as well, but after that, Tsimikas comes in and plays well, they just get it right.”

Liverpool have an incredible transfer track record under Klopp and as much as FSG are constantly slated, they have actually done a great job of supporting Klopp with the infrastructure around him.

If they can keep delivering with signings like Luis Diaz, there is no doubt that Liverpool will keep winning silverware and the Carabao Cup will just be the start.

Luis Diaz.

The Colombian has hit the ground running and while the goals haven’t exactly been flowing, he just needs some luck.

Arturo Vidal was tremendous with a block off the line in the 93rd minute on Tuesday evening to deny him otherwise he would have had another goal and would have levelled the score and prevented Inter Milan from ending the Reds’ winning streak.
