“My goodness” – Rival player is fuming with Reds star over deleted Instagram post

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - OCTOBER 17: (THE SUN OUT. THE SUN ON SUNDAY OUT) Richarlison of Everton takes out Thiago Alcantara of Liverpool with a tackle that gets him the red card during the Premier League match between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park on October 17, 2020 in Liverpool, England.

Richarlison is fuming with Thiago Alcantara after the Spaniard ignored his apology for the tackle that damaged ligaments in his knee back in October.

The Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park on the 17th of October was fraught with dangerous challenges and the poor refereeing on the day saw two Liverpool players end the game with serious injuries.

Jordan Pickford’s reckless challenge on Virgil van Dijk resulted in an ACL rupture that required surgery and with the Dutchman still on the sidelines, his total time out of action at the time of writing has reached 225 days.

In stoppage time, Richarlison was shown a red card for a horrific, raking tackle on Thiago which could have broken the Spaniard’s leg. The result was a 77-day spell on the sidelines which saw the new Liverpool midfielder miss a total of 17 games.

The Everton star has now shown his lack of class with comments made on YouTube to a journalist named Thiago Asmar.

He said: “The last game I made that challenge on Thiago and got sent off. My goodness.

“Then I went on Instagram to apologise and such. He only saw it. I said ‘I’m going to delete this message too, since he doesn’t want to reply.’ Then I went there and deleted it. He didn’t answer, no.

“Then there was the derby now, at their home, he didn’t look at my face, I didn’t look at him, either. The game goes on. He ignored the pigeon (Richarlison’s nickname from Brazil).”

Richarlison’s comments show a lack of class and lack of professionalism.

Furthermore, it highlights just how little remorse he has over a challenge that had the potential to ruin Thiago’s career.

The fact that he’s more upset about Thiago ghosting his apology and proceeded to delete it tells me that it was just for show and a way to get the Liverpool fans that were hounding his social media off his back.
