Report: Liverpool ready to spend €50million to sign midfielder – release clause gives Reds power over selling club

Gavi

Liverpool are reportedly interested in Barcelona prodigy Gavi and are willing to pay €50million to trigger his release clause to bring him to Anfield.

For those who don’t watch La Liga or Barcelona, under Xavi, one of the best players to watch has been 17-year-old Gavi.

I never recommend forming an opinion on a player from YouTube highlights but you won’t regret watching this compilation. It’s his best bits so it won’t show you his weak points but it will show you just how good he is.

He can pass, dribble, tackle and has the vision and technical abilities to match and yet he’s still only 17.

Gavi is one of those players that you immediately know is going to be world-class in a few years. It’s less about his passing and dribbling and more about his acute understanding of the game and his unbelievable maturity.

El Nacional reports that he’s another player that Liverpool are interested in and they claim that Jurgen Klopp has urged Fenway Sports Group to trigger his release clause.

It’s set at €50million which would be an incredible amount of money to spend on a teenager let alone a 17-year-old but I have no doubt in my mind that he would be worth it.

Gavi

According to Barca Universal: “Ivan de la Pena, the agent of Gavi, has informed Barcelona that he is receiving a lot of approaches from clubs for the teenage sensation.”

Liverpool signing Gavi would increase their ability to break down teams that defend in a low block in games where crossing from the flanks isn’t as effective.

The Spaniard has 1 goal and 3 assists this season but his attacking output is not what you should be looking at but more so his overall game which is remarkably well-rounded for a player that can’t even legally drive on his own in Spain.

His contract expires next summer so Liverpool could wait until he becomes a free agent but that gives Barcelona too much time to convince him to stay at the club while triggering his €50million release clause takes the Catalonians out of the picture and puts the power in Gavi’s hands.
