Mundo Deportivo’s Pepe Gil-Vernet reports that Alfie Haaland and Mino Raiola will travel to London today to speak with Liverpool as well as Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs.
After having meetings with Barcelona and Real Madrid, Mundo Deportivo reports: “Mino Raiola and Alfie Haaland will travel to London tomorrow to hold meetings with four Premier League teams to find out their intentions.”
Jurgen Klopp is by the far most likely to sell his and Liverpool’s vision to Haaland but if it comes to ‘financial muscle, as Gil_Vernet suggests it might, the Reds are likely to be the first side to resign from the race to sign the forward.
The Spanish journalist writes that the four Premier League clubs mentioned before are of interest to Haaland and his representatives due to their ‘financial muscle and sporting project’.
The second part of that statement is perhaps where the Anfield outfit could shine and only Manchester City would be the only side able to rival or better their offerings on the football pitch.
This season aside, Chelsea and Manchester United simply cannot offer Haaland the same opportunities to win silverware that Liverpool can.
Having won the Champions League and the Premier League in back to back seasons as well as the FIFA Club World Cup, the Reds are able to offer the Norwegian the chance to enhance his legacy as a player.
If Liverpool were to move for Haaland, it would likely be next season when his €75m (£63m) release clause can be activated.
Klopp could convince him to remain at Borussia Dortmund for another season to develop for another year after which he could join the Merseyside outfit for a much cheaper fee than this summer.
It’s the only way I can imagine Haaland joining Liverpool.
