Real Madrid stun Liverpool and Chelsea with ruthless defender raid

Liverpool have prioritised signing a defender this summer, and sporting director Richard Hughes has been tirelessly working on a specific deal for a few months. However, it appears Real Madrid are set to beat them to the signature of this top talent in the coming weeks.

Arne Slot wants to reconfigure the Liverpool attack next season, and the club have been looking at several strikers and wide forwards over the course of the season.

However, signing a centre-back and a left-back has also been a top priority, and the Merseyside giants have been carrying out major work behind the scenes to bring in a few top young defensive talents.

But it seems all their tireless work is set to go in vain as Real Madrid have barged into the race and are set to steal one of the top targets from under Liverpool’s nose.

Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?

Real Madrid confident of wrapping up deal for a top young defender

Liverpool identified Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen as a top target early this year, and the club have been working on a deal to sign him for months.

They have held talks with his representatives, and have explained the project and made their financial offer to the centre-back while waiting for an answer.

Chelsea have made a more lucrative contract offer and were said to be leading the race to sign the Spanish defender this summer.

However, Chelsea and Liverpool are set to face disappointment, as according to the Daily Telegraph, Real Madrid are now in pole position to sign him.

The 20-year-old is a boyhood Real Madrid fan, and the Spanish giants are confident of wrapping up a deal after holding talks with the player and his representatives.

His £50m release clause is not a problem for Real Madrid, especially as they can pay it to the Cherries in three instalments.

The defender’s Premier League suitors always feared that if the Spanish giants got involved, Huijsen would opt for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
