Questions raised about Liverpool star’s future

Arne Slot gives injury updates ahead of Arsenal clash

Liverpool will be forced to make some tough calls regarding transfers as several players at the club are facing an uncertain future in the coming months.

The Reds want to tie down Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk on new deals but the negotiations have not progressed.

Liverpool also have plans for the January transfer window when they want to sign a defensive midfielder and are open to offers for Wataru Endo.

However, few other players in that Liverpool squad have question marks over their long-term future with the Merseyside giants at this stage.

One of the players who is facing an uncertain future is Federico Chiesa who just joined Liverpool a few months ago but has been nothing but underwhelming.

The attacker’s future at Anfield remains uncertain

Chiesa has been struggling with injuries and fitness issues since joining the Reds and has only played 78 minutes of football across three appearances.

Arne Slot has been left unimpressed by his fitness levels and there are now serious question marks over whether he will ever be good enough to make it at Liverpool.

It emerged earlier this month that Liverpool would consider loan offers for him in the winter window but the winger is believed to be keen to make it on Merseyside rather than escape back to Italy.

However, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, those question marks over his future and the possibility of a return to Italy in January continue to persist.

A loan move back to Serie A is still under consideration and it has been claimed that Chiesa wants showdown talks with Slot.

The Italian will seek clarification from the Liverpool manager on whether he has a future at the club.

Serie A giants AC Milan have their eyes on him and are considering signing him on loan in the January transfer window.

However, any move would depend on clarifications from Liverpool who are yet to make a final decision on Chiesa.

His €7.5m contract is likely to be another complication as Italian clubs won’t be able to match those figures.

If Liverpool decide to loan him out to an Italian club, the Reds will have to pay part of his wages to grease the wheels of the negotiations.
