The Liverpool Echo reports that qualifying for the Champions League earned the Reds £58million which raises questions over this summer’s lack of transfers.
On Thursday evening, Liverpool were drawn into Group B where they will face Atletico Madrid, Porto and AC Milan during this season’s Champions League group stages.
While some fans are annoyed the likes of Manchester United have been drawn into an easy group, I’m actually happy as it’s exciting and the Reds relish the challenge of the big games.

With AC Milan’s return to the competition, it’s particularly exciting to face the Italian side and to be a part of their return to a tournament that Liverpool share a rich history.
Liverpool supporters will never forget the 2005 final against Milan in Instanbul while on the other hand, Milan fans will fondly remember getting revenge in Athens in 2007.
The Echo reports that “simply qualifying for the competition, appearing in the group stage and being able to claim the broadcasting rights, market pool and co-efficient payments that go along with it – that would be worth £58m to Liverpool.”

So far this summer, Liverpool have only signed Ibrahima Konate to help solve their defensive injury crisis but beyond that, the Reds are yet to make another signing.
With the club’s rivals splashing the cash left, right and centre, it has been a frustrating transfer window to sit back and watch our rivals strengthen.
Now, we all know Jurgen Klopp is a miracle worker but that doesn’t mean FSG shouldn’t give him the tools to improve his squad like his rivals’ owners do.
Contract renewals shouldn’t be an excuse either as they should be a given. Big clubs should automatically be doing everything they can to hold onto their best players as well as attracting the next best talent.

With suggestions being made that Liverpool have made a late move to sign Yves Bissouma, the Reds should use the funds they have received and expect to receive from UEFA to fund a move for the Malian.
Brighton might be difficult to negotiate with this late in the window but the 24-year-old is a superb player and signing him would be a great way to end off what has been a sub-par transfer window so far.
