Liverpool have made a poor start to the season and former player Steve Nicol has labelled them as ‘worrying’ following their loss to Manchester United.
The Reds haven’t won a game in the Premier League so far, losing one and drawing the other two in an unfamiliar poor start to the season.
Injuries have hampered the side with up to 10 players out injured and the combination of that, lack of midfield reinforcement in the market and the poor performance have all combined to create a sour atmosphere around the side.
Pundits and ex-players have been critical of Liverpool even former players such as Steve Nicol who claimed this form is worrying going forward.

Nicol’s comments
The former Liverpool player turned ESPN pundit claimed that Liverpool’s basics were just not there and that could be worrying going forward.
“It’s one thing to lose a game by being unfortunate, it’s another to lose a game and have a lot of the fundamentals so badly wrong.
‘The things I’m talking about, defensively in particular. Can you imagine Haaland running in behind that backline? Holy smokes. Talk about worrying.
“But once they get the basics sorted out, they’ve got talent can’t argue with that. So they’ve got to sort the basics out and quickly.”
🤦♂️ “Utd were fortuitous that Liverpool were very poor for the first 20!”
🔥 “For the rest of the game, Liverpool were the far better side.”
😰 “It’s easier to play vs a side like #LFC than vs Brighton or Brentford!”

Jamie Carragher on Liverpool’s issues
Jamie Carragher reaffirmed Liverpool’s need for a midfield player on Sky Sports post-match last night and outlined their issues in midfield.
“Liverpool need a midfield player. Not in terms of the numbers in the squad, they need someone to go in and play and Liverpool feel that player is not available right now,” Carragher claimed on Sky Sports.
“I would stick with what Liverpool do, they don’t panic. Jurgen Klopp’s not daft, he knows when he looks at his first-choice midfield of Thiago, Henderson and Fabinho – it’s a really good midfield three but they’re all over 30 which isn’t ideal for any team.
“But when you’re talking about real top quality, Liverpool need a midfield player. If it was available now, Liverpool would buy him I can assure you, but they’ve obviously got something lined up for next year.”
