New club enters fight to sign £200,000/week Liverpool star – One bid already made, he’s told FSG he’s leaving Anfield

Sadio Mane Real Madrid PSG Bayern Munich Liverpool

Liverpool look set to lose Sadio Mane this summer after six years at Anfield and although Bayern Munich are favourites, PSG have thrown their hat in the ring.

The Parisians are already able to call on Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar as well as Mauro Icardi and Angel Di Maria although it’s unclear what their attacking ranks will look like at the end of the summer.

Mbappe has renewed his contract with PSG and so, in my opinion, it would be a bad move from Mane to follow Georginio Wijnaldum to Paris and his career could nosedive the way the Dutchman’s has.

Sadio Mane should consider Gini Wijnaldum’s decline before leaving Liverpool

In the 2020/21 season, Wijnaldum played 51 games for Liverpool for a total of 3922 minutes but only appeared 38 times in his debut season for PSG, playing for just 1993 minutes.

While Gini did not want to leave Liverpool, his fate at PSG should be a cautionary tale to Mane as well as other players considering leaving the club.

That’s not to say I don’t think it’s a good idea for Mane to leave the club.

In fact, after adding the Carabao Cup and FA Cup to his trophy haul, Mane has officially won every piece of silverware available aside from the Community Shield – but we all know that doesn’t count.

PSG enter the race to sign Mane – Bayern are favourites

Just hours after Liverpool were defeated by Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris, Mane reportedly told owners FSG that he wants to leave this summer.

What has followed is a multitude of reports reliably linking him with a move to the Bundesliga to join Bayern.

The Bavarians have made an opening offer worth £25m plus £4million to £8million in add-ons.

The Liverpool star reportedly earns £200,000 per week and the Reds could likely pay more on wages than Bayern but some decisions aren’t fuelled by finances.

Unless you’re PSG.

Then money is your biggest draw. According to Bild, Mauricio Pochettino has entered the race to convince Mane to move to PSG.

The report claims the Ligue 1 side is (predictably) prepared to pay more than Bayern to sign Sadio Mane this summer.
