Liverpool are linked with Martin Odegaard again and this time, I'm actually of the opinion that it isn't a deal that makes sense for the Reds.

Football Fancast cites Fichajes as suggesting that Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are all chasing the Norwegian with Real Madrid after €50million for his signature.

The report states that Odegaard, who has apparently fallen in love with the Premier League, is viewed as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.

Don't get me wrong - he impressed during his spell at the Emirates and I think he's a good player but I don't think he's what Liverpool need right now.

And certainly not for €50million (£43m).

If Atletico Madrid are asking for that much for Saul - an experienced and established world-class midfielder - why would Liverpool spend the same amount on Odegaard when it would also require them to revamp their system?

Right now, it simply doesn't make sense for Liverpool even if it's a deal that the club was desperately trying to make happen seven years ago when he was invited to train at Melwood.

Of course, he wound up choosing Real Madrid and the glamour of becoming a galactico.

In hindsight, I think he'll see now that was a mistake as his career would have received a lot more care at Anfield.
