Dean Jones claims he’s heard “whispers” that Liverpool could make a late move to sign the exciting Fulham youngster Fabio Carvalho.
Luis Diaz is on the verge of a surprise €60m move to Anfield which has only materialised because Spurs had the gall to bid for him.
And, if Dean Jones’ little birdie is correct, the Reds could throw all caution to the wind and make a second attacking signing this month by signing 19-year-old Carvalho instead of waiting until the summer when he would be available for free excepting the tribunal fee Fulham would be owed for development costs.
Recent reports suggest Carvalho is Anfield-bound this summer at the latest
Liverpool were hard at work to strike an agreement with Mendes for the Carvalho, Football Insider reported. After chief scout Barry Hunter gave the green light, work started on a deal to sign the 19-year-old.
Liverpool were being proactive to “steal a march on their rivals by setting up a deal in the coming months to sign the winger when his contract at Fulham expires in the summer.”
Liverpool could complete a deal to sign Fabio Carvalho from Fulham this month, according to The Athletic’s James Pearce. He did also say that the Reds were unlikely to make any signings this month and, now, Diaz is on his way to Anfield.
Liverpool set to win the race for Carvalho; ‘Looking at possible January deal’
90Min report that Liverpool are “set to win the race to capture Fulham’s brilliant young forward Fabio Carvalho” and “looking into a possible deal this month” which would cap off an unbelievable January transfer window.
The report states Fulham have not given up all hope of holding onto him this month but are “increasingly worried” they will not be able to hold onto him and this is further underlined by Dean Jones’ “whispers”.
“I’m starting to hear whispers that Liverpool might push forward their interest in Fabio Carvalho to this window,” Jones told GiveMeSport.
“Their interest has definitely turned his head.”
