Bayern seemed to be holding out for around €30 million but the longer the window has gone on the more power Liverpool seemed to have any deal.

It had appeared for most of the summer that Liverpool would need to sell a midfielder before they bring another one in. That player who rumoured to leave was Georginio Wijnaldum, who had been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. But now it appears that Gini will stay at Anfield and sign a new deal.

The new had broken on twitter early this morning and the Liverpool fans have been reacting in their droves.

The signing of Thiago Alcantara is a huge statement from Liverpool, it is the first time for years that Liverpool have signed a player who every team in the world would have been happy to sign.

This is the signing that increases your chances of retaining a title by tenfold. Now, all we need to do is wait to see him on the pitch for the first time.
