"Melted my heart': These LFC fans notice what Firmino did in the 85th minute

Roberto Firmino showed he has a heart gold and he proved this in the 85th minute against Crystal Palace on Sunday when he refused to score a certain goal.

Liverpool went into the final game of the 2020/21 Premier League season with a single goal: achieve a top-four finish to secure qualification for the 2021/22 Champions League campaign.

This was achieved but there were also a few sub-plots as Georginio Wijnaldum played his final game for the club and Mohamed Salah chased the Golden Boot which he ultimately missed out on to Harry Kane.

Firmino, however, did everything he could to help his teammate which included his refusal to score a certain goal in the 85th minute.

After Mane was bulldozed in the box, Andy Robertson sprang onto the ball and squared it to Salah. The Egyptian, in his haste to grab a goal, scuffed his shot which also took a deflection.

As the ball bobbled towards the bottom corner, Firmino stood over it in the hopes it would cross the line but the Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vincent Guaita saved the shot.

Liverpool fans watching the highlights on YouTube commented on Firmino's selflessness and praised him for refusing to score what would have been the easy goal of his career in the hopes his teammate, Salah, would score and win the Golden Boot.

One fan said: "That just melted my heart but to be fair, he has a heart of gold," while another replied, saying: "That's part of what makes Liverpool so good; the spirit of the team."

There is a lot you can say about Roberto Firmino and his lack of goals this season and last but there is no detracting from his desire to see the team succeed ahead of his own personal ambitions.

Salah has been labelled as a greedy player in the past and has clashed with Sadio Mane over not passing but the front three works well because each player is different and it wouldn't be the same without Bobby.
