Report: Michael Edwards spent Deadline Day in unsuccessful talks over Liverpool player - will try again in January

Liverpool reportedly spent all of Deadline Day trying to find a club to sign Loris Karius and after being unsuccessful, they will try again in January.

Chris Bascombe writes that the Reds were busy trying to sell the German goalkeeper but were unsuccessful, with his contract with the Reds still set to run until 2022.

Karius apparently wants to be paid out before he leaves and this is not an option for Liverpool and so they will try again to sell him in January.

He will spend the next few months on the sidelines, watching his teammates play and it's a major disappointment as a supporter after the terrible few years he's had to see where he's ended up.

The former Mainz goalkeeper was very good in the build-up to the 2017/18 Champions League final but the two mistakes he made have essentially cost him a career at the very top of European football.

It's a major shame as there's a good chance he'd still at least be no.2 at Liverpool if weren't for that horrible night in Kiev. He's a better goalkeeper than Adrian but there's just no way back for him at Anfield unfortunately.

Thankfully, Jurgen Klopp has Alisson and the Brazilian has already shown this season that he is imperative to Liverpool and if the Reds are going to defy the odds and beat the Manchester clubs and Chelsea to the Premier League title, he has to remain fit.

The first international break of the season is such an annoying one has it comes just three games into the campaign and disrupts its flow just as it's gaining momentum.

The good news is that when it returns, the Champions League will return with it and for the first time since March 2020, fans will be able to attend a European game under the Anfield floodlights.

AC Milan will face the Reds and I cannot wait to see how the Italians fare in their first season back in the competition for eight years.
