Mohamed Salah compared to Cristiano Ronaldo after unreal 2021

Mohamed Salah compared to Cristiano Ronaldo after unreal 2021

Mohamed Salah was incredible in 2021 even if he doesn't always get the credit that he deserves from the wider football community but Liverpool fans won't care as he continues to plunder goals for the Reds.

Just this season, the Egyptian has 22 goals and 9 assists although he is on a goal drought at the moment by his standards - he hasn't scored for two games!

In all seriousness, the level he has reached in the last few months has been unreal to watch and hopefully he can set the world alight at AFCON and return to Jurgen Klopp without injury.

Liverpool need him fully fit and firing as their chances of success rest largely on his shoulders.

Micah Richards, who played with him at Fiorentina, says the Liverpool star is now at the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo although I think he surpassed that over a year ago.

Richards compares free-scoring Salah to clutch, decisive Ronaldo

Richards wrote in The Daily Mail: “I want Liverpool to finalise a new contract for him and I want him to stay in the Premier League for many more years.

“He is getting to the level now where we are talking about him being in the Premier League’s Hall of Fame, someone who could be in the all-time team.

“What a player he has become. He is so dangerous that in some matches you don’t see him for 80 minutes but then he will pop up with a goal or an assist.

“It’s not luck that happens.

“He’s at Cristiano Ronaldo levels now, the one-time winger who has redefined himself to become an ultimate scorer.

“If 2021 was spectacular for Salah, 2022 can be even more so. He looks a certainty at this stage to win the PFA Player of the Year but if Liverpool were to win the Champions League, he will also have an outstanding chance of lifting the Ballon d’Or.”

Salah has been better than Ronaldo since he moved to Juventus

Ronaldo's move to the Premier League and his lack of contribution aside from goals has underlined how much more well-rounded Mohamed Salah is and it's another reason as to why he's the better right now.

You can't compare the two of them over the course of their careers as the former Real Madrid legend is the second-best player to ever kick a football but Salah is currently the best in the world.

Liverpool's poor form should take nothing away from that and he's fully deserving of being the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

Hopefully, FSG can recognise that in 2022 and reach an agreement with him and his agent and grant Salah his £400,000/week wish.
