Planned protest ahead of Man Utd vs. Liverpool could see Reds awarded three points

Manchester United are planning another mass protest on Thursday when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford for their rescheduled match after the first was postponed due to safety concerns.

On the second of May, Liverpool were set for a hugely important match against United but fans stormed the stadium as they protest against the Glazer family that runs the club.

The police intervened as the 200-something crowd of United supporters was escorted from the grounds but they blocked the Lowry Hotel where both teams were staying ahead of kickoff.

A police officer was hospitalised due to a violent confrontation between United fans and Greater Manchester Police.

The game is often the most viewed game of the Premier League season around the world due to the combined number of fans the two clubs have.

While the first game was postponed due to police intervention, if a second protest sees the game called off again, it could see Liverpool awarded the three points for two key reasons.

The first being that it's unlikely to be due to a police decision which was the reason why the Reds weren't awarded three points on the 2nd of May. The second reason being that there isn't room to reschedule the game.

While there was barely any room to reschedule the game for this week, there isn't an open slot to postpone the game to again which could see Liverpool awarded three points if Man Utd fans are successful again in interrupting kickoff.

It could work out in the Reds' favour as they look to make it back into the Premier League top four with just four games to go.

Leicester City need to drop points in order for Jurgen Klopp's side to climb up the ladder but they will also need to beat United or hope they are awarded the points.
