Jan Aage Fjortoft has relayed that Liverpool are in talks to sign Donyell Malen who is viewed as an option to replace Jadon Sancho.
The Dutch star is shining for the Netherlands at the EUROs and after he scored 27 goals and assisted 10 in the Eredivisie, his stock is at an all-time high.
His performance during the 3-0 win over North Macedonia was electric but claims that Liverpool are already in talks to sign him are unfortunately wide of the mark.

Jan Aage Fjortoft is the latest to fall foul of misinformation as he took to Twitter to say that Sky Germany are reporting that Liverpool are in talks with the player.
He claims that Dortmund view Malen as a replacement for the soon to depart Jadon Sancho.
Manchester United, as per Fabrizio Romano, have told BVB they are willing to pay €85million and talks are ongoing but talks are the stage where they are going ‘to reach an agreement soon.’
He added: “Gap now reducing between MUFC official proposal and Borussia Dortmund price tag after further talks. Deal not signed/completed yet – but progressing to final negotiation stages.”
Sancho, who has inexplicably been absent from the pitch at the EUROs this month, will soon be made a Manchester United player and this could be an issue for Liverpool if it means they face competition for Malen from Dortmund.

The forward has all the tools required to be a top player under Jurgen Klopp. He has unreal pace, the ability to dance past defenders and a clinical eye for goal. He’s also very creative.
The actual Sky Sports Germany report in question is from mid-June and mentioned that Liverpool will open talks for the Dutch forward but followed that up by saying it would be to replace Salah.
Anfield Central reached out to sources with inside information on Dutch football, who told us that Liverpool plan to hold talks with PSV and his agent after the EUROs but nothing concrete has been discussed yet.
The only enquiry that sporting director Michael Edwards has made was over how much it would cost to sign Malen, with a £25m price tag being quoted some months ago.

His value could jump above the £30m-mark if he helps Holland reach the latter stages of the EUROs and with Czech Republic meeting them in the Round of 16, they should make the last eight at the very least.
There, they could meet either Wales or Denmark and while both sides will test Frank de Boer’s men, they should be able to reach the semi-finals where they will likely face England or Germany.
It really is a pity that Virgil van Dijk was not able to attend the tournament as his defensive nous would have given the Oranje a very decent chance of winning the tournament as a whole.
