Loan watch: Harvey Elliot is Blackburn's shining star and a future Liverpool gem

Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliot is showcasing his ability at Championship side Blackburn Rovers this season.

The 17-year old joined the Rovers on a season-long loan from Liverpool during the summer transfer window. The move was to allow Elliot to get more minutes on the pitch to quicken his development.

His performances for Liverpool in pre-season, Carabao Cup and FA Cup last season had fans talking about what he could become. However, the minutes just did not come frequently enough with Elliot currently behind Mohamed Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri in the pecking order.

The drop down into the Championship made sense with many of the Premier League's youngest talents all playing in there as the likes of Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount gained valuable experience in that league.

However, it has been how Harvey Elliot has taken to life at Ewood Park that has Liverpool fans excited.

In 18 league games, Harvey Elliot has four goals and six assists to his name. Those six assists see Elliot rank joint second with two other players (Bryan Mbeumo and Emiliano Buendía) in assists in the league.

His impact has seen Tony Mowbray's side average the most goals in the Championship per game. Rovers are averaging 2.83 goals a game (including opponents goals), which is the highest in the league.

His versatility is also being showcased at Blackburn with Elliot playing at left midfield, right midfield and as an attacking midfielder.

Liverpool fans have always seen the potential in Harvey Elliot since he arrived from Fulham in 2019. That potential is now becoming genuine talent and is raising the fans' expectation of him.
