Report: Liverpool's next marquee signing - €100million bid made to try beat Man Utd & Real Madrid to future superstar

Manchester United have been desperately trying to sign Jude Bellingham since before he moved to Borussia Dortmund.

And the Liverpool Echo reports that he's likely to be the next marquee signing in Jurgen Klopp's super team and that he is worth the wait.

Bellingham is unlikely to leave Dortmund until the summer of 2023 due to Erling Haaland moving to Manchester City this summer.

The Bundesliga outfit has a one-in, one-out approach to selling their most important players and so unless Liverpool, United or Chelsea pay an exorbitant sum this summer, he's staying put.

Yet, Cadena Ser reports that the Reds have bid €100million for his signature to beat Real Madrid and Manchester United to his signature.

According to Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic, Manchester United have made signing Bellingham their priority for 2023.

With Erik ten Hag taking over at Old Trafford, the Red Devils will need to make sure they are successful next season to ensure they are in the running to land the 18-year-old.

If it came to a choice between Liverpool and United this summer, Liverpool would surely be favourites due to their recent success under Klopp and their immediate ability to offer him the chance to win silverware.

However, with a deal to sign Bellingham unlikely until next summer, United have the chance to level the playing field somewhat.

That said, it's going to take an epic turnaround for ten Hag to take his side to the level that City and Liverpool are operating at.

Liverpool currently have one of their strongest squads of all time and adding Bellingham to the mix could be explosive.

The starting XI is missing someone of his quality in the right central midfield spot.

A trio of Thiago, Fabinho and Bellingham would be special and would have all the qualities Klopp likes in his midfielders.

Technical quality, running power, work ethic, fight and versatility.

The Echo reports that the next priority for Liverpool is to sign a midfielder but they claim that one won't be added to the squad until next summer.

While I agree that signing Bellingham for €100million isn't feasible or likely this summer, I can't imagine that Liverpool will go into next season without adding a new midfielder.

After Aurelien Tchouameni got away, joining Real Madrid, it would be odd if Liverpool suddenly decided they didn't need a new midfielder.

While Darwin Nunez is an expensive addition, selling Sadio Mane will fund at least a portion of the fee.

The main issue for Liverpool at the start of last season was the likes of Thiago and Naby Keita being injured and while they found renewed fitness after the New Year, their injury records aren't to be trusted.
