Liverpool receive massive Andy Robertson injury boost after serious-looking injury vs. Athletic Bilbao

Andy Robertson suffered what looked like a very painful injury and Dr. Rajpal Brar says that there is real cause for optimism.

Many fans - myself included - were initially concerned that the Scotsman had suffered a broken ankle after it looked as though his foot had folded underneath him.

What will be a massive boost to Robertson's chances of returning to action sooner rather than later is that he walked off the pitch under his own steam.

I thought this could be the opposite. Virgil van Dijk walked off the pitch but this may have been due to adrenaline and he subsequently missed almost a year of action.

Robertson had assistance from medical staff and he was in visible pain but Dr. Raj believes that his ability to walk off means that it's likely not a fracture and points towards lesser severity.

The 27-year-old has been a hugely crucial performer for the Reds since joining from Hull City in 2017 and missing any period of football will be a massive blow but another doctor I follow on Twitter has tweeted the likely timelines the Scot will be missing for.

Hopefully Robbo misses between 2-4 weeks and is soon.

Fortunately, Kostas Tsimikas has been one of the best performers for Liverpool during pre-season and so the good news is that he will have a chance to prove himself.

Recently, he was the subject of two loan approaches from Napoli but Liverpool had no intention of letting him leave and certainly will not now.

Despite his struggles last season, Jurgen Klopp wants him to stay at Anfield for the 2021/22 season and his pre-season displays are evidence as to why.
