Liverpool receive and reject bid for unique star - He said his "wish is to stay here - I want to stay"

Liverpool have reportedly received a bid from Juventus for Roberto Firmino.

Firmino, 30, has enjoyed seven successful years at Liverpool where he's helped the club win the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

The Reds currently have Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota for the central forward role which has left Firmino struggling for regular game time in recent seasons.

The Italian side have been linked with a move for the Brazilian - Tutto Juve claims that Juventus have 'presented' a formal offer of £19.5M.

Latest transfer news on Firmino

Juventus have targeted Firmino but it seems their bid of £19.5M has failed to convince Liverpool; we may see an increased bid come in before the end of the window.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds have no desire to let their fan-favourite leave despite the forward entering the final year of his deal.

Despite that, he had previously outlined that he saw his future at Liverpool and is hoping for a new deal.

"I'm very happy here. I’m grateful to God that I’m here playing for a great club with great players, winning titles. And my will is to stay," Firmino declared.

"My wish is to stay here. I want to be here. I’m happy here. So that’s all I can say, I want to stay.”

His 35 appearances in all competitions last season was his lowest since arriving on Merseyside but he remains a key, experienced figure in the squad.

Should Firmino stay?

Liverpool fans adore their Brazilian forward and are surely hoping that he remains at the club this season.

After all, Jota has already tweaked a hamstring ruling him out of the opening few games leaving Nunez as the only available central forward.

He still managed 11 goals and five assists last season despite hamstring and muscular issues that combined to reduce his game time.
