Jurgen Klopp 'wants to sign' €25million Brazilian - enquiries already made as Reds are 'ready to fight'

Liverpool are 'ready to fight' for Torino star Gleison Bremer despite having a wealth of talent in defence.

The Reds have Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez to choose from at centre back but if reports are to be believed, they're still considering bolstering their ranks.

Last week, Goal reported that while the Reds have made “informal enquiries in recent weeks”, a move is not yet on the cards.

The centre-back is reportedly valued at €25million (£21m) and at 25 years of age, it's a fair price for the Brazilian although many fans will rightly question the club's transfer strategy if another central defender is recruited.

However, as Goal's Neil Jones pointed out, a "move to Anfield would depend on outgoings" and while Joe Gomez has had a tough season, he is still part of Jurgen Klopp's long-term plans.

Yet, according to O Tempo, Bremer "interests" the Merseysiders and the Reds "want to sign" him while Tutto Juve claim Liverpool are "ready to fight" for his signature.

Liverpool don't exactly need Bremer even if he's an aggressive, front-foot defender that could be a good player for Klopp and at €25m (£21m), it would be a smart investment but given the strength in depth at Anfield, it might be best to steer clear unless something changes in the coming months.

Gomez may still well decide he wants to leave the club in search of game time which Liverpool could do little to prevent as he is currently unlikely to break into the starting XI all things considered.

So unless Gomez leaves or, god forbid, Klopp is forced to contend with another serious injury to one of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip or Ibrahima Konate, I really cannot see Bremer arriving this summer.

Signing a forward to replace Divock Origi given the Belgian's impending contract expiry is the logical next step while I'd still like to see Liverpool sign a backup for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
