Manchester United signing Jadon Sancho opens the door for Liverpool to sign Kingsley Coman, who is in a contract standoff with Bayern Munich.

A report suggests that with Kingsley Coman stalling on a new contract with Bayern Munich, Liverpool could pay him what he's asking and with Manchester United closing in on a mega deal to sign Jadon Sancho, the door is open for the Reds to sign Coman.

What's the dynamic with Sancho and Coman?

United need a right-sided forward this summer and are committed to signing Sancho but they were interested in Coman as an alternative should their move for the Englishman fall through.

The Times reported at midnight that United are preparing a fresh bid for Sancho that will include add-ons to help bring their offer for the player close to Borrusia Dortmund's asking price.

United's first offer for Sancho, who will be paid £350,000/week at Old Trafford, was £11 million short of Dortmund's valuation but with the Red Devils now preparing a new bid, they could be set to complete his signing.

"The German club is willing to accept a variety of add-ons that they consider “realistically achievable” and are linked to team achievements or Sancho’s progression," the Times writes.

Where does this leave Liverpool re: Coman?

As far as Sancho is concerned, Liverpool would need a drastic change in approach to swoop in and hijack a move to sign him.

A report from Spain claims that the Reds could sign Coman but state that the only hiccup would be over his transfer fee.

With only two years left on his contract, the Bavarians want to extend his terms but are willing to let him leave for €50million whereas Liverpool only want to pay €30million.

Sport1 claims that he wants €12m as his net annual salary while Fichajes claims they are willing to match his contract demands.

With United essentially out of the picture, Liverpool have a free shot at signing one of the best forwards in Europe.

Where would he fit in at Liverpool?

I personally think that Liverpool need a centre-forward and another versatile forward to go toe to toe with Mohamed Salah for that right-hand position and Kingsley Coman, who can play on either flank, is a brilliant option.

According to WhoScored, 20 of his games came on the left flank while just 10 came as a right-sided forward but he's perfectly capable of playing there. In all competitions, he got 8 goals and 15 assists which is a great return considering he had a number of injury issues this season.

His pace, finishing, creativity and winning mentality are all things that would be welcome at Liverpool but, for me, his ability to beat his man in 1 v 1 scenarios is incredible and would have to be his strongest trait.

It's something that is absent from Liverpool's side as only Sadio Mane is able to beat his man with any kind of regularity.
