Report: Liverpool agree deal in principle to sign thrilling attacking midfielder

Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle to sign Fabio Carvalho from Fulham after failing to sign him before the deadline in January, according to a report.

Luis Diaz joined the Reds after rejecting Spurs and has been a revelation but Carvalho was the one that got away.

It was pretty much a done deal but there wasn't enough time to get all the necessary paperwork in order to process his move to Liverpool and process the loan back to Fulham and so he remained at Fulham.

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool aren't just closing in on Carvalho but two other signings as well as the Reds look to add more quality to their youth ranks.

Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement with Fulham for 19-year-old Carvalho, with Celtic for 16-year-old Ben Doak and with Derry City for 15-year-old Trent Kone-Doherty.

The club is said to be confident of formalising deals for each player ahead of making announcements in the coming months ahead of the summer transfer as the season winds down.

With the 2021/22 season now officially in the business end of the campaign, Liverpool's recruitment team will have more work to do as they prepare for the summer and it seems their work is beginning to ramp up.

While fans may not be as excited by the capture of Doak and Kane-Doherty due to their age and status, Carvalho will certainly capture supporters' imagination.

He's a fabulous player and has 8 goals and 7 assists in the Championship this season at the age of 19. The Portuguese star is going to be a fantastic player if he fulfils his potential and given Jurgen Klopp's track record with attackers, there's cause for excitement if he really is on his way to Anfield.

The teenager will be hoping to follow in Harvey Elliott's footsteps and make his way into the Liverpool first-team soon after his move to Merseyside.
