Liverpool’s deal to sign Matheus Nunes is gathering momentum and he could become the club’s fourth summer signing.
After Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, sporting director Julian Ward appears to be hard at work to sign Sporting Lisbon star, Nunes.
He’s a 23-year-old central midfielder highly adept at breaking the lines either through his cute passing or his stylish dribbling – making him the ideal candidate to join the Reds’ engine room.
While not signing a midfielder wouldn’t be the end of the world for Liverpool, adding someone like Nunes to the ranks would further guarantee that the Reds will win more silverware this season.
Jurgen Klopp is a miracle worker but if you give him all the tools he needs, he’ll deliver every time.
Last season, after Luis Diaz was added to the side in January, Liverpool came within touching distance of an unprecedented quadruple.
I’m not saying signing Nunes would mean Liverpool would go on to win four trophies but it could give them the firepower and depth to beat Manchester City to the league title again.

So far this summer, Liverpool have seen their young talents take the limelight from their senior colleagues with Fabio Carvalho, Harvey Elliott and 17-year-old Stefan Bajcetic shining in pre-season.
If a deal to sign Nunes doesn’t materialise or proves to be not much more than end-of-summer-nonsense, I’m banking on Jurgen Klopp allowing his young stars to shine both in the domestic cups and in the Premier League.
Elliott is sure to return to the side with aplomb after working his way back from a nasty ankle ligament injury that was fortunately not a broken bone.
His performances in pre-season have been delightful and he even grabbed an assist on Thursday evening.
