Liverpool to launch huge offer for £63m midfielder; offer to be delivered by agent

According to a report from Italy, Liverpool could submit a 'monstrous offer' to sign Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

The Reds are in the market for a new midfielder and with a whole host of names linked with a move to Anfield, the latest is 6ft3 Milinkovic-Savic.

What does the report say about Milinkovic-Savic?

Sport Witness transcribed the story from Il Messaggero which suggests that his agent, Mateja Kezman, could present Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito with a ‘monstrous offer for Milinković-Savić from Liverpool.

The report doesn't say how much said offer would be worth but Transfermarkt values the Serbian at £63million.

There is precious little more to their claims and as SportWitness writes, "Il Messaggero provides no context or background about the English club as they mention Jürgen Klopp’s side out of the blue."

Would he be a good fit for Liverpool?

There are very few sides out there that the Serbian wouldn't improve, with his combination of physicality, speed and technical ability a rare find.

In 32 Serie A games this season, Milinkovic-Savic got 8 goals and 11 assists and that is a whole lot more than any Liverpool midfielders managed this term.

Of course, Klopp doesn't expect that from his midfielders, preferring them to support the Reds' flying fullbacks, covering them to prevent being caught high up the pitch in transition.

At Liverpool, Milinkovic-Savic would be the furthest forward midfield and would likely take up the 'free 8' role that Wijnaldum occupied recently which would give the 26-year-old the freedom to bomb forward and contribute in attack.

What are his chances of moving to Liverpool?

Not very high in all honesty.

One line from an article that was primarily about Mateja Kezman's move to Lazio does not constitute a guarantee of Liverpool's transfer plans.

Links to Florian Neuhaus are promising while Youri Tielemans is a player that is perenially linked with Liverpool.

Both would offer the Reds different options while the latter would require very few tweaks to fit in at Anfield, with Neuhaus presenting a style of play that isn't available to Klopp currently.
