Agent of €25m ace has amazing news for Liverpool; 21-year-old could head to Anfield

Liverpool can sign Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara after his agent told Le Phoceen that €25million should be enough to get a deal over the line.

The 21-year-old, linked with a move to Anfield in March, has just one year remaining on his contract with Marseille and could leave at a bargain price.

What is the story?

Kamara, who can play at centre-back or in midfield, was linked with a move to Anfield back in March when Calciomercato claimed that the Reds had set their sights on him but now, with his contract expiring in June 2022, Marseille must sell him or risk losing him for free next summer.

Speaking to Le Phoceen, his agent has revealed that he can leave the club this summer for just €25m which is a bargain considering Transfermarkt claims his value is closer to €38.7m.

Liverpool are the type of club to look for opportunistic deals in the market like this one and still on 21, Kamara represents the opportunity for Jurgen Klopp to sign a player with huge potential that won't even turn 22 until late November.

Why is Boubacar Kamara a target for Liverpool?

The Frenchman is very versatile and can play at centre-back or in midfielder and is more press resistant than even Georginio Wijnaldum and the Dutchman is one of the hardest players in Europe to dispossess.

While Gini is 5ft7, Kamara stands at 6ft and uses his frame to protect the ball with ease but it's his agility and trickery on the ball that catches the eye and makes me want to see him at Liverpool.

Wijnaldum is more of a ball carrier than Kamara while the Marseille man invites pressure and then waits for the last moment to move the ball away from an incoming tackle and then wriggles away.

It's an approach that would be a little riskier in the Premier League where the game moves a lot faster than in Ligue 1 but I don't think he'd struggle to impress in England - especially with the talent that would be around him.

Signing Kamara gives Liverpool more options in the market

Liverpool have been linked with €70m moves for the likes of Youri Tielemans and while the Belgian may or may not be worth that kind of outlay, signing someone like Kamara for just €25million would save funds and give the Reds the chance to invest more heavily in attack.

I do wonder why the player's agent has spoken to Le Phoceen in the first place and it might be to drum up interest in his client and with one year left on his contract, now is Marseille's last chance to earn a fee from his sale.

It will be interesting to see if anything more comes out regarding Liverpool's interest in the 21-year-old but for the time being, we only have Calciomercato's one-line claim from March.
