Liverpool can gazump Man City to sign €40million striker with 29 goals + 10 assists

Reports from Germany claim Manchester City want Andre Silva and that a €40million bid will get a deal done so Liverpool should step in a gazump the Premier League champions.

Sport Witness cites German newspaper SportBILD as claiming that Pep Guardiola's side has contacted Andre Silva and his agents about a potential move to the Etihad this summer in order to replace the outgoing Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine has joined Barcelona on a Bosman transfer and with Manchester City looking to replace them, Liverpool should step in and gazump the Cityzens not only to upset their rivals but also to fix their own issues upfront.

Reportedly, €40million is all it would take to sign the Portugal international and following the season he has had, that's an absolute bargain and the Reds would be silly to not at least consider it.

In all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt, Silva scored 29 goals and assisted 10 more in 34 appearances, rightfully earning himself a place in Portugal's squad for the EUROs.

Liverpool have had their issues in attack this season and while Sadio Mane seemed to find his scoring boots, the root of the issue is that for all his pressing and link-up play, Roberto Firmino doesn't contribute enough to the side in a tangible sense.

When you take the Brazilian out of the side, Jurgen Klopp's men look lethargic and certainly don't press as well as they normally do (which is why I suggested Lautaro Martinez) but when he's in the side, Firmino doesn't score enough goals.

He plays in the no.9 position and so he should be contributing more, with his 9 goals and 9 assists not good enough for a side looking to win both the Premier League and the Champions League.

With someone like Silva in the side, Liverpool would like see Trent Alexander Arnold and Andy Robertson get more assists with a real striker to aim at - as much as I love Bobby, he can be so wasteful at times.

His Champions League quarter-final second leg display against Real Madrid was so poor as he wasted a few brilliant balls from TAA.

Signing Silva would not only add 39 goals and assists in a central role but it would also allow Firmino to return to an attacking midfield role which is his natural position.

And (this is a massive bonus) it would leave Pep Guardiola and Manchester City looking the fool.
