Liverpool announce line-up against Manchester United - includes a debut for new signing

Liverpool have announced their first line-up of pre-season as they face Manchester United in Bangkok.

There's a debut start for their new signing Fabio Carvalho who joined from Fulham in the summer for a fee of around £5M.

He's joined in midfield by skipper Jordan Henderson and talented homegrown star Tyler Morton, who has impressed in pre-season so far.

Key men Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho all start on the bench but will surely get minutes in the second half.

Fans will be pleased to see Joe Gomez start at centre back after recently signing a new long-term contract deal as he's joined by fan favourite Nat Phillips despite his highly rumoured move to the newly promoted Bournemouth.

Young star Harvey Elliot gets a chance to impress from the start; a player that Jurgen Klopp rates extremely highly, he started three of the first four games last season before a long-term injury saw him drop out of the side.

He's also joined by two other lesser-known youth prospects Luke Chambers and Isaac Mabaya - who fill in at left and right-back respectively.

Chambers, 18, is an England youth international and an attacking full-back who managed six goals and two assists in 20 U18 Premier League games last season.

Mabaya, 17, also plays for England U18s and plays predominately at right-back but is capable in central midfield also. He registered two goals and seven assists in fifteen U18 Premier League games last season and will be one to watch.

Erik ten Haag faces his first game in charge and includes many of the regular names from last season for his first Manchester United team.

Bruno Fernandes captains a team featuring a returning Anthony Martial, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla.

On the bench features the returning Donny van der Beek and new defensive signing Tyrell Malacia who could make his debut.

There's no Cristiano Ronaldo in the squad as he continues to be absent from the United pre-season tour due to family reasons.
