Liverpool agree €40million contract to complete new signing

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Darwin Nunez over a contract worth £34.2million over five years.

The 22-year-old will complete a marquee move to Anfield this week worth around €100million as Liverpool have shocked fans by being prepared to break their transfer record to sign Nunez.

Signing the Benfica star indicates a change in Liverpool tactics as Jurgen Klopp has lined his side up with a false nine more often than not.

According to Jornal de Noticias, Nunez will complete a medical in the coming days before signing a contract worth €40m (£34.2m) over five years.

That's around £131,000 a week for Liverpool's new forward which is perfectly in line with the club's wage structure.

While the season just ended, excitement is now growing ahead of the new season.

Getting Nunez in the door early is helpful as it means Jurgen Klopp will get a full pre-season with the Uruguayan when he reports for training on the 4th of July.

Liverpool have one of the most demanding tactical systems in Europe so it's vital that starters are fully fit for the start of the season.

Klopp puts his players through an intense training programme in the summer to prepare them for the running required in his high-pressing system.

Nunez will be well prepared for the new season and hopefully, he can make a flying start to the Premier League season the same way Mohamed Salah did when he joined the club from AS Roma in 2017.

That season, he scored 32 goals in the league and 44 overall.
