Klopp may take Germany job when he leaves Anfield

The German national team may make Jurgen Klopp their new head coach when he leaves Liverpool. Klopp himself is also seemingly interested in the role.

The 53-year-old recently claimed that he will stay at Liverpool until 2024, before taking a sabbatical.

In an interview with SWR Sport, Klopp said: "Four years in Liverpool."

He claimed that he then wants to "do nothing for a year", before adding that he is unsure what will come after this.

However, journalist Christian Falk has claimed that both Klopp and the DFB are interested in the prospect of him managing the German national team in future.

It is, of course, possible that Klopp will decide to extend his stay at Liverpool if he still has the appetite to do so.

He did say in his interview with SWR that in five years, "the world can look very different again".

He is very much keeping his options open and taking things as they come, much like he does with football games.

By 2025, the German national team should be in excellent shape.

They are one of the best-run organisations in football and are always in contention to win the major honours.

Joachim Low has taken the side to World Cup glory in 2014 and remains in charge as they look to rebuild following a disappointing 2018 World Cup campaign.

There has been a big turnover in players, with past stars like Mesut Ozil, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Muller being replaced in the squad.

By 2025, the likes of Kai Havertz, Joshua Kimmich and Timo Werner should be among the best players in the world.

Stars like Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Leroy Sane and Niklas Sule should also still be in good shape.

If Jurgen Klopp was in charge of all these players in their primes, Die Mannschaft would surely be one of the favourites to win the 2026 World Cup.

What happens at Liverpool?

As mentioned, it is possible that Klopp will stay at Liverpool in order to build a dynasty.

Yet he would probably like to return home after nine years in England, or else take on another challenge elsewhere.

The question for Liverpool then would be who takes the reigns?

The first name that will spring to the minds of most is Steven Gerrard.

The Liverpool legend is currently at Rangers. He is doing well but will need more time to prove that he is good enough to manage Liverpool.

Then there is current assistant manager Pep Lijnders.

He could replicate the likes of Bob Paisley by becoming the boss after a spell as assistant.

Perhaps the most sensible way to go would be by hiring a young, up-and-coming manager.

Klopp's compatriots Marco Rose, who played under him at Mainz, and Julian Nagelsmann are two outstanding options.

By 2024, they will probably be two of the world's elite coaches.

They could bring something slightly new to Liverpool but continue with the current general ethos and playing style.
