"I get angry": Jurgen Klopp is furious about one thing that "is not right" and "has to change"

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has slammed the scheduling of the World Cup in Qatar by FIFA ahead of the new season

The Reds travel to Fulham on the opening weekend of the Premier League and will be hoping for a winning start against the newly-promoted side.

Klopp was quick to turn his attention to the FIFA scheduling ahead of the season which has drawn massive criticism from around the sporting and non-sporting world.

With the World Cup running from the end of November to the middle of December - there will be major effects on the players both before and after the tournament - both physically and mentally which has left Klopp angered.

Klopp's comments on scheduling

Klopp's comments came from his press conference ahead of the opening day of the Premier League which sees Liverpool travel to Fulham in the early kick-off.

After discussing the game in hand, he quickly turned to slam the scheduling of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar halfway through the season.

"If you go to the World Cup final, 3rd place too (3rd place play-off), you are already quite busy. I was not angry when I came in but when I talk about it now, I get angry,” he said in his press conference.

“My problem is everyone knows [the calendar] is not right but no-one talks enough about it. Something has to change."

The manager pleaded with the governing bodies to help the players, in a topic that has united managers and players in recent seasons as the games pile up for club and country.

"FIFA, UEFA, FA, PL, please all talk! One meeting together where the topic is the most important part of the game: the players!"

"This World Cup happens at the wrong moment for the wrong reasons."

The World Cup will take place between 21 November to 18 December 2022 and it will be the first WC held in an Arab nation.
