Liverpool told to sign better financial option to signing Kylian Mbappe - he also got over 40 goals

Liverpool are most likely unable to afford Kylian Mbappe's wages and so Jose Enrique thinks it would be better to sign Erling Haaland.

The Sky Sports and Stadium Astro pundit told Empire of the Kop: “If I had the money, I’d go all-in for Erling Haaland, I don’t care!

“There’s rumours of Kylian Mbappe too, but with the money he earns at Paris Saint-Germain, he could unbalance the finances at Liverpool – we’d then have to renew deals for Mo Salah and other players, and they’d ask for a lot more.

“I believe Roberto Firmino is a world-class player, but being honest, he hasn’t been performing at the highest level for a while. And with Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the amount of assists they give – imagine if they were crossing balls into Haaland.

“I love him, he has that personality, that always-want-to-win desire, he presses and is a big, strong and quick guy – he has everything. If we sign Haaland, I wouldn’t even care if we didn’t sign anyone else this summer.”

More than anything, a world-class number nine would take this Liverpool team to a new level which is why it disappoints me that we have owners that would never blow our rivals out of the water.

While I am certain Haaland would demand a massive increase on his reported £141,000/week wages it's nothing on the £403,000 Kylian Mbappe reportedly earns.

Next summer, the Frenchman will be free to leave the Parc des Princes for free at which point Liverpool will have their only ever realistic chance to sign Mbappe.

Even then, unless the Reds get Nike to subsidise his wages, I cannot see Liverpool signing a player who will require the club to shatter their financial understanding of the game.

Mbappe scored 42 times last season and got 11 assists and is one of the best players on the planet but Klopp has shown he can do without the very best.

Elring Haaland, a year younger than Mbappe, scored 41 goals and assisted 12 times last season for Borussia Dortmund.

Liverpool would be terrifying with a player like the Norwegian, who goes out onto the pitch hellbent on scoring every single game.

In that way, he reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo.
