Jack Grealish needs to be high on Liverpool's transfer list

Liverpool's performances this season have dipped by their standards, could Jack Grealish be their solution?

Jurgen Klopp's men are currently 10 points behind leaders Manchester City who still have a game in hand.

Their 4-1 defeat at home to City has Liverpool at a crossroad as their attempt to retain the title looks all but over.

Of course, it is well documented that Liverpool's injury history has had a massive impact on this team this season. However, those injuries have come at the back, whereas as it has been scoring goals that has been the issue.

Many believe that the owners have failed Jurgen Klopp by not signing a defender to the club's standards. The signings of Ben Davies (Preston) and Ozan Kabak (Schalke) have fans viewing these as 'cheap signings'. But could the signing of one England's most creative midfielder this summer change those views?

Why the signing of Jack Grealish makes sense

Aston Villa have gone from surviving on the final day of last season to a possibility of European football this season. But how have Villa turned this around? The answer is simple: their captain Jack Grealish.

The 25-year-old has been one of the standout players in the league this season. He is currently joint second in the league for assists with 10 and is just one behind Harry Kane.

Interestingly, those 10 assists also see him tied with last season's PFA Player of the Year Kevin De Bruyne.

Liverpool's current midfielders are robust and work hard but have never been the most creative. The signing of Thiago was meant to change that but due to injuries and two midfielders having to play at centre-back, he has been used as a number six.

Paul Gascoigne is seen as the most talented midfielder this country has produced. Now Grealish is being talked about as the next player to challenge for that label.

At just 25-years-old and with experience of playing in the toughest league in the world, Jack Grealish could be what Liverpool need.
