Liverpool tipped to sign 33-goal striker as a replacement for Divock Origi
Ivan Toney is on his way to the Premier League with Brentford after they won promotion and the Englishman has been tipped to join Liverpool.
Peterborough United chief Darragh MacAnthony told the ‘Hard Truth’ podcast: “I’m a Liverpool fan and I know my players. And I’d be delighted if we signed Ivan. Give me him over (Divock) Origi any day of the week.
“Liverpool cross the ball with quality for fun and imagine Ivan getting on the end of those crosses from those full-backs!
“Ivan is only 24/25 and not yet at the peak of his powers. I can see him scoring 15 goals for Brentford and I can see him playing for England next season."
Liverpool are in the market for a new forward as Roberto Firmino has been struggling to find the form that set him apart from other no.9s during the 2017/18 season and with Origi likely to leave the club this summer, Jurgen Klopp will be shorthanded.
Ivan Toney would be a great option for the Reds but I find it hard to believe Brentford would listen to offers for their star man unless they were offered silly money but Darragh MacAnthony is bang on the money.
Toney would have a field day with service from Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold but it's unlikely to happen this summer.
It's anyone's guess who will arrive in the attacking department, with a whole host of names being linked with the Reds.
From Donyell Malen to Jadon Sancho to Patson Daka, only one thing is clear: Liverpool will sign a new forward.
I personally hope Raphinha moves to Anfield as he is the ideal Jurgen Klopp signing.
The Brazilian (24) is still young, is blessed with pace, is an incredible dribbler and can score a range of different goals.
The Leeds forward can score from outside the box, with late runs at the far post or by tucking away a neat finish.
