Fabrizio Romano: "Klopp has his eyes on other targets" as pursuit of £49M baller intensifies - he's waiting for Klopp

One of football's most reliable news sources may have just confirmed that Liverpool will sign a midfielder before the end of the window.

The Reds have spent this summer securing the services of Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho who have both made bright starts to their Liverpool careers.

Given their midfield injury woes with Thiago now out for at least six weeks, it seems the rumours are intensifying around a potential signing.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp has been coy and dismissive over another signing, we may have just had confirmation that there are midfield targets being explored by the club.

Latest reports on Liverpool

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano's claim about Liverpool had initially come when discussing their long-term interest in Watford's Ismaila Sarr - who managed to score an early goal of the season contender last night.

Romano claimed: "Liverpool have followed Watford forward Ismaila Sarr "for years" and while he could leave Vicarage Road before the end of the window".

Sarr, 24, has 10 PL goals in 50 games for the Hornets but did cause Liverpool real problems in the 2019/20 season and could be a great option on the wings.

Being at a Championship club would also restrict the transfer fee from being too unreasonable.

He then went on to claim that 'Klopp has his eyes on other targets' which could mean Liverpool will target a midfielder that is becoming more of a necessity given their midfield issues.

Most likely target?

Given the reports we've had over the summer, we know Liverpool have been interested in the likes of Nicolo Barella, Jude Bellingham and Matheus Nunes.

Whilst Bellingham and Barella are big money signings that are likely to be chased next summer, Nunes has emerged as the smart and sensible option.

The latest reports (Correio da Manha) state that Nunes will wait for Liverpool to play in the Champions League and compete for silverware

With their injury woes, surely Liverpool will be forced to move for someone as talented and experienced as Nunes before another top club snaps him up.
